Studio portrait assignment for class. The assignment was way more challenging than I thought it would be-- I hadn't worked with studio lights before and barely knew how to set up the equipment. I think it took about an hour until I finally got the flash hooked up to my camera.

And, even though the subject is a close friend, it took me a while to warm up and catch some interesting expressions. In middle school (and high school, sh), we used to dress up in bizarre outfits and take funny pictures of each other. Just because we'd be bored and sick of eating fruit in my kitchen.

I don't think I'd call a studio portrait session an upgrade to that, but it was worth the experiment.

He was playing handball and hit one of the balls over the court. He came running out then ran back in, then ran back out with a nosebleed.

It's easier less satisfying to take photos of people when they're drunk.
